Des O'Connor is coming to Yeovil
11:00am Sunday 21st March 2010

VETERAN entertainer Des O’Connor will be at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil on Thursday, April 1, to give people a rare opportunity to see a true show business legend live on stage.
Des will provide a wonderful evening of comedy, laughter and music from 7.30pm.
He is one of only a handful of British entertainers to be acclaimed internationally on stage and television. Since landing his first television series in the UK in 1963 he has starred in his own mainstream television show for over 45 years – longer than anyone anywhere in the world.
Des was honoured to have been awarded a CBE in June 2008, in the Queens birthday honours list, for services to Entertainment and Broadcasting and even more delighted to attend the investiture at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 2nd December 2008.
In recent years Des has starred in the award-winning ITV1 daily celebrity talk show Today With Des & Mel, with co-host Melanie Sykes.
The couple's lively and spontaneous banter proved such a hit with the viewers that the show more than doubled its audience, and won an RTS Programme Award since it’s launch in autumn 2002.
In 2007 Des took over the helm of the hugely popular words and numbers, daily quiz Countdown on Channel 4 for two years.
Ticket prices for the show on April 1 range from £19 to £22. Contact the Octagon box office on 01935-422884 for further information.
